Hi! Friends,
In my case, I'm always interested in the local life in each countries.
So, I think you can find the most local life in their Market. 😜
There are several markets in South Korea and among them, Yeongdong Market is located near Nonhyeon station.
Thia market is a classic neighborhood market tucked between Nonhyeon and Hakdong, with old-school stalls, produce, side-dish shops, butcheries, and a bunch of casual eateries. It’s cozy, lived-in, and very “daily Seoul” rather than polished.
This market is located between Nonhyeon station and Shinnonhyeon station.
- From Nonhyeon Station (Line 7): Use Exit 8. Walk straight 4–6 minutes along Gangnam-daero-122-gil (or search “Yeongdong Market” on your map). You’ll see the narrow lanes with signage and awnings.
- From Hakdong Station (Line 7): Exit 1, then 8–10 minutes on foot toward the market area. Nonhyeon is the quicker start.
The easiest way to follow the Gangnam-daero and turn left at the corner of Gwangseong Pharmacy. ⛨
The market entrance is as below. It was the weekends, so there were not many people.
But there are many people in weekdays. There are 2 places I recommend.
The first one is Korean beef restaurant. Evergreen beef house!👍

This restaurant has been a blue ribbon survey winner since 2015 every years. The quality of Korean beef at this restaurant is great and the prices are reasonable. 💗
Second one is seafood buffet. 🐟
Of course, the prices are also reasonable with cozy mood. 😎
I bought some rice cakes at this market because I love chewing them.
Kkultteog (Honey rice cake) cereal is famous, delicious, and cheap. 🍚
how about Yeongdong Market ?
- Cash is still handy, but many stalls take cards or simple mobile pay—have a bit of cash just in case.
- Be mindful with photos—nod or ask; a quick “Is it okay to take a photo?" goes a long way.
- It’s mostly outdoors and semi-covered—umbrella in rainy season, warm layers in winter.
- If you’re hopping elsewhere after, buses along Gangnam-daero make it easy to reach Sinsa, Apgujeong, or Gangnam.
