I want to talk about Christmas season of 2 department stores in Seoul.
The first one is Shinsegae Department Store (Main Store) – Christmas Video Show!👄
In the winter evenings, the entire façade turns into a media show with projection/LED visuals synced to classic holiday music. With the exterior decorations, it feels like a full-on holiday scene right in the city.
Below pictures were in 2022 season.
Myeong-dong street lights + the building-wide visuals make it feel like a movie set. Shows often loop every 10–15 minutes, so if you miss one, hang around and catch the next.
You can find it following to below.
1) Myeong-dong Station (Line 4), Exits 5/6/7 → walk 8–10 minutes toward Sogong-ro
2) Euljiro 1-ga (Euljiro Entrance) Station (Line 2), Exit 7 → walk 5–7 minutes toward the Sogong intersection, passing the Lotte side. Shinsegae Main is near the Sogong intersection.
If you want to have front wide shot: Stand near the Sogong intersection crosswalk to capture the whole building and the visuals.
And good tip!😉 Diagonal angle: Shoot from the building corner for depth and clean light lines.
The second one is Lotte Department Store (Main Store) – Christmas Tree & Holiday Decor.
A big outdoor/atrium Christmas tree, red-and-gold ornaments, photo zones, and light arches. After dark, the tree lights and decorations sparkle for peak year-end vibes.
Classic, bright, and elegant. On weekends, you may catch carols, small busking sets, or photo events (varies by year).
You also can find it as below.
1) Euljiro 1-ga (Euljiro Entrance) Station (Line 2), Exit 7 → 2–3 minutes on foot to Lotte Main.
2) City Hall Station (Lines 1 & 2), Exit 7 → about a 10-minute walk toward Namdaemun.
My recommendation for great photo are the close-up at the base: Capture ornament reflections and light bokeh. Use Portrait mode to softly blur the background crowd. And plaza wide shot: Frame the tree + Lotte façade logo + street lights. A diagonal composition keeps it clean. 😍
Start at Euljiro 1-ga Station → shoot Lotte’s tree and photo zones → walk to the Sogong intersection for the Shinsegae façade video show → stroll Myeong-dong under the holiday lights → warm up with a drink at a nearby café.
