Hi Friends!👋
Lately, the hottest dessert trend in Korea is probably the chewy Dubai cookie. It’s a sweet, chewy dough filled with crunchy, nutty pistachios, dusted with cocoa powder—and it’s sold out almost everywhere you go. 🍪🍪
They do sell them at department stores, but I want to introduce Bouquet de Pain, a bakery café in Apgujeong Rodeo that serves the Dubai chewy cookie and a Dubai “gimbap” dessert. It was a cold night, and the warm lights looked so inviting that I just wandered right in.
As soon as I walked in, there were warm lights, cute decor, and adorable breads on display. Since it was evening, some items looked sold out, but the whole building is basically a bakery café, so they also serve coffee and tea. 💓🍵🍵
The café’s main dessert, the Dubai “gimbap,” is 28,000 KRW. The Dubai chewy cookie is 8,800 KRW each, and a set of six is 53,800 KRW. Compared to the other breads at around 6,000 KRW each, it’s pretty pricey. Because of the price, I only tried one chewy cookie—but the sweet, nutty flavor and unique texture totally explained why it’s so popular.
Thinking about the price, it’s not something I’d eat all the time—but after trying it once, the taste really stuck with me. We didn’t have anything like this before! On another shelf, they had a lineup of salt-bread varieties that were trendy for a while. 🍞🍞
Head up to the second floor and you’ll find a café space where you can enjoy the bread you bought downstairs with tea or coffee. The white-toned interior feels cozy, and there are plenty of seats. I thought it might be chilly because of the high ceiling, but it was actually really warm. From the second floor, there’s an internal staircase up to a loft-like third floor with more café seating.
If you take the outside stairs up to the third floor, there’s a separate private space—I couldn’t help wondering, is this a party room? And since strawberries are in season now, there was a strawberry drinks menu posted, too. 🍓🍓
I was on my way to a movie and got drawn into the café, so I looked around and snapped a few photos outside. It really feels like a warm, neighborhood spot. If you get the chance, trying the buzzworthy dessert here would be a fun experience.
