First Time in Seoul? Start at the Sky: Jamsil’s Lotte World Tower

 Hey friends! 👋

Today I want to introduce Lotte Tower in Jamsil. Back in the day, we usually took first-time visitors to Namsan Tower, but lately the trend has shifted to Lotte Tower.

Then, how can we get to the Lotte World Tower?

  • Subway (best option): Take Line 2 or Line 8 to Jamsil Station. Follow signs for Lotte World Tower / Lotte World Mall via Exit 1 or 2—it’s all indoors, so no weather worries.
  • Taxi: Tell the driver “Lotte World Tower, Jamsil”. Drop-off is at the main entrance or basement parking lobby; expect traffic on weekends.
  • Airport routes: From Incheon, take AREX → Line 2 (transfer at Hongik Univ. or City Hall area) to Jamsil. From Gimpo, it’s Line 9 or Line 2 → Jamsil.

You can also enjoy Lotte World Adventure near the Lotte Tower. When Lotte Tower first started going up, people said all kinds of things—it was so tall, and there were even worries about nearby sinkholes. But once it was finished, it turned into a landmark not just for locals, but for tourists too.

Viewing tips for Lotte World Tower and Seoul Sky

  • Tickets: Buy Seoul Sky observatory tickets online for a timed entry; weekends sell out. Search “Seoul Sky tickets” and pick your slot.
  • Best time: Aim for late afternoon → sunset → night to catch three moods in one visit. Blue hour makes city lights pop.
  • Queues: Arrive 15–20 minutes early for security and elevator lines. Weekday evenings are calmer than weekend nights.
You can also shopping in Lotte Mall (
Fashion & lifestyle: International brands and Korean designers on multiple floors; easy spot for clothes, shoes, and accessories, Souvenirs: Grab compact items—tea, skincare minis, local snacks—to keep your luggage light, K-culture picks: Look for K-beauty shops, snack sections (yuzu tea, artisanal ramyeon, rice crackers), and character goods) and duty-free shop for luxury(good for cosmetics, perfumes, and gifts).

And during certain seasons, the mall plaza hosts all kinds of events. The day I went, there was a Christmas market and the Tiffany exhibition happening. For more details on the Tiffany show, check my separate post.

Most of the staff here can help in English, and even if they use a translator, they’re generally super kind and helpful. Since it’s all indoors, it’s a great spot to bring kids, too. Just a heads-up: it gets really crowded on weekdays after work (around 6–9 pm) and on weekends, so coming on a weekday daytime is way easier. There are lots of cafés and restaurants around Lotte Mall with views of Seokchon Lake, so after you visit the Lotte World Tower observatory, why not stop by for a drink or a meal?
